Provider Licensing, Certification & Accreditation
Sullivan,
Stolier & Resor, APLC (SSR) assists clients with
obtaining and maintaining appropriate licensure and certification
by meeting the appropriate state or federal licensure requirements
and/or conditions of participation. When necessary, SS&R
intervenes with state licensure boards, HCFA, fiscal intermediaries
or carriers and/or other third party payors and regulators to
expedite licensure and certification processes and resolve disputes
that may jeopardize a client’s license or certification.
SS&R
also assists clients with JCAHO accreditations, hospital credentialing
issues and DEA investigations and complaints.
Through
the years, SS&R has gained particular expertise
in assisting physician hearings before state boards of medical
examiners affecting the physicians’ professional rights.
The professional rights practice is administrative in nature
with the goal being to maintain the client’s unrestricted
license to practice medicine in his or her applicable state and
maintain certification to continue to participate in the various
third party payors and governmental payor programs. The vast
majority of state board of medical examiners allow for an informal
discussion and/or negotiating period prior to the filing of an
actual administrative complaint. In this process it is crucial
to work with each board’s investigative officer which typically
serves in prosecutorial capacity manner. Oftentimes it is in
the physician/client’s best interest to amicably resolve
this matter via settlement with the investigative officer prior
to the conducting of an administrative hearing before the panel
of board of medical examiners. With regard to decertification
and/or exclusion proceedings by governmental or commercial third
party payors, these proceedings are typically controlled by the
applicable individual policies of the commercial payor or the
applicable Medicare and/or Medicaid regulations found in CFR
Title 42.
